Rock Ministry

Sunday mornings at 9:30 a.m. in the Education Building.

Rock Ministry is Mountain View Lutheran Church’s version of Sunday school. Children and youth meet in classes comprised of peer groups and adult mentors. Classes learn Bible stories and discuss their faith, with age-appropriate curriculum and resources.

Current classes are:

  • Little Pebbles. Pre-kindergarten and kindergarten. Godly Play is a Montessori-based format of making Bible stories come alive, and allows the children to hear, retell, and experience these stories.
  • Rolling Stones. First and second grade. This class also uses Godly Play to learn Bible stories, in addition to related activities and crafts.
  • Rock Climbers. Third, fourth, and fifth grade. This class uses a two-year curriculum written by members of MVLC.
  • Middle Rock. Sixth, seventh, and eighth grade. Our middle school youth explore topics of faith and current events through a Lutheran lens.
  • High School. Ninth through twelfth grade. Our high school youth discuss their own faith journeys and how they relate to the world in which we live.

Rock Ministry had to adapt when we were unable to gather in person. Check out a couple of different Rock Ministry programs that we used during the pandemic.
